Monochromatic

I don't know if it's the fog inspiring me or I am spending too much time on Pinterest, but I am loving all grey everything. I am usually an all black everything kind of girl, but I find myself picking up grey sweaters, skirts, dresses, boots, OK I think you get the picture. Mixing different shades and textures of grey makes one killer outfit. I am obsessing so much that I even tried this matte grey manicure. :)

Jules Be Loungin'

Fall in San Francisco always puts in me the mood to snuggle up on my couch with the newspaper, a cup of tea, and my pup laying at my feet. And while we have had amazing weather here, falling back due to day light savings, I have been taking advantage of the sun setting early by lounging {probably more than I would like to admit}. I would consider myself pretty laid back and while I love putting on my favorite pair of Louboutins, I live in my loungewear as much as possible. Here are some of my favorites...

snuggle up

Eberyjey heather racer back tank and shorts. Cuyana infinity scarf. Nightcap foldover crochet beach pant {these are my absolute favorite!!}. Wildfox sweatshirt. Eberjey gisele sleep shirt. Paper Source skull pillow.

I top off my favorites with an oversized sweater, as my apartment isn't the warmest place no matter how high I turn up the heat. I also crave any pumpkin or apple recipe during this time of year. There is something so comforting about those flavors. Check back for some of my favorite fall recipes {apple crisp is mandatory}.

Stay warm.

BOO!

If you've been following my blog you know that June is my most cherished month {because of my birthday}. My second favorite month, would be October. It is the beginning of my favorite season {autumn} and it is also the month of my second favorite holiday {behind my birthday, and yes I know birthdays are not holidays but well that's just the way I see it}.

My love for Halloween began when I learned to write, my first word was Boo. I wrote it everywhere {literally}, on paper, in books, on the walls, on my brother {hehe}. And ever since I can remember I have loved scaring people, it started when I would scare my dad when he would come home from work. He knew it was coming because I hid in the same spot everyday, but being the {best} dad he always played along {to this day I try and catch him off guard every once in a while ;)}. As I grew older I fell in love with the decorations, scary movies, the costumes...everything. I mean what's not fun about being able to dress up as somebody {or something} else for one day, it's so fun to get into character.

But anyway, it honor of my {second} favorite holiday, here are some things I'm coveting for the most spooky time of the year.

happy halloween

1. Charlotte Olympia clutch 2. Jennifer Fisher ring 3. Christian Louboutin spiked heels 4. Asos sweater
5. Charlotte Olympia flats 6. Alexander McQueen bangle 7. Jennifer Fisher cuff 8. Kenzo sweatshirt

I have decided to be Maverick from TopGun this year. I've always thought this was a fun and easy costume {seeing as how I didn't plan very well this Halloween} so this is the year.

Happy Haunting.

DIY {pumpkin addition}

My roommate and I just moved into the most adorable apartment in San Francisco. We love absolutely everything about it, well mostly everything. We love everything, except rent {but who likes rent?}. That being said, we are trying to decorate on a budget. In comes Pinterest. There are so many cute ideas for cheap decorating that we are trying to put our Martha Stewart instincts to good use {albeit its a very very small instinct}. I decided that I would try something easy first. Autumn being my favorite season and sparkles being {one of} my favorite colors it was a no brainer that I would attempt to make this.

What you need. Pumpkin {any size you want, real or fake}. Spray glue. Glitter {color of your choosing}. Ribbon {color of your choosing}. I stuck with a coppery/golden color for the glitter and a taupe ribbon because I wanted to keep the pumpkins out until Thanksgiving {could be fun to use purple or green glitter with a black ribbon for halloween :)}.

 {supplies}

 {went to the Pumpkin Patch in my neighborhood for the pumpkins and Michaels for art supplies}

 {I went to the Pumpkin Patch with my dad, I felt like a kid again :)}

{tried to keep the glitter to a confined area...it kind of worked}

{the finished product}

I'm not the best at DIY activities, but I always have so much fun with them and am trying to get better. I'm thinking maybe this for my next project.

A Few of My Favorites

Having grown up in the East Bay and now living in San Francisco I thought I would share a few of my favorite places...not only in San Francisco, but also the Bay Area.  If you know me, you know that I go weak in the knees for anything Mexican. Margaritas, Tacos, Chips and Salsa, Margaritas, Guacamole, Margaritas...ok you get the picture. So here are a few restaurants that always {more than} satisfy me.

Mamacita. Hands down my favorite favorite favorite. I like to eat Paleo as much as possible, but sometimes the only thing that will suffice is a Mexican meal...insert Mamacita. Located in the heart of the Marina it is a great place to have a girl's night out. After you are done gorging yourself on the many different {and oh so delicious} taco choices, the chilaquiles {that are to DIE for} and have tasted an assortment of tequila, you can bar hop or shop to your little hearts content.

Rumbo Al Sur. What I love most about this place is that they are constantly changing their menu and when I think there is nothing they could possibly do to make me fall even more in love with this place, they make Tinga Tacos Dorados. Rumbo Al Sur is located in the beautiful Glenview neighborhood in Oakland where you couldn't get better views of San Francisco if you tried.   Definitely worth the trip across the bridge.

Mama's. Don't be intimated by the long line that could wrap around the block at any point in time, because once you sit down and order you won't be sorry.  Right next to St. Peter and Paul, {the church where Joe DiMaggio and Marilyn Monroe got married} it's a great place to take a break during all your site seeing adventures or get there early and start your day off with a hearty breakfast made with a little extra love.

Sam's Anchor Cafe. Another place with some of the best views of the city. Sam's is across the golden gate bridge in Tiburon {one of the cutest little towns}. I took my parents there this past Father's Day and we had the best time. Sit on the patio. Order calamari for starters. Sauteed wild prawns for your main course. Watch the fog creep over San Francisco. Pro Tip: Rent a bike in SF and peddle your way to Sam's {a bit of a work out, but just reward yourself with a nice glass of cabernet when you get to Sam's ;)}.

Tuk Tuk Thai. My roommate and I are obsessed with pad thai. Since we are childhood BFFs we had our go to Thai restaurant in Walnut Creek, {check out Plearn if you are ever in the area} so naturally we had to find our new go to place in San Francisco. We both love hole in the wall restaurants that have a lot of character and Tuk Tuk Thai has just that. Restaurants in North Beach are constantly changing, but Tuk Tuk Thai has stood its ground for a long time, and after tasting their pad thai and pumpkin curry my roommate and I found out why.  A definite must when you are in little Italy {I know what you're thinking, Thai in North Beach? YES!}.

Stella's Bakery and Cafe. I have THE biggest sweet tooth. I got it from my Grandma and besides Churros and Cookies n' Cream ice cream, Tiramisu is my most favorite dessert. Thank goodness I moved to North Beach where there is an Italian bakery on every corner. I went to Stella's for the first time this past week and fell in love {it was my cheat day}. I got a cannoli, cookies, a piece of Tiramisu {don't worry I wasn't the only one eating, but I probably could have eaten it all myself}. Everything was so delicious I wanted seconds!

These are just a few of my favorites. Check back for more! :)

Borrowing From the Boys

I had one of those weekends where I had one thing to do after the next. And while my sneakers, Lululemon leggings, and oversized sweatshirt were calling my name, I decided to wear my trusty boyfriend jeans. No, I don't have a boyfriend BUT I live in my boyfriend jeans. I am completely obsessed. I love dressing them up for drinks, and dressing them down for Sunday errands. I think there is a certain sophistication when I wear them with my heels and a girl next door look when I throw on my chucks. No matter what the occasion, I always try and make my boyfriend jeans work.

 What I also love? Men's button up shirts. I love the oversized look of a men's flannel tucked into a pair of skinny jeans for fall.  Throw on a pair of pumps and statement necklace and you are golden. Borrowing from the boys is a great way to stay comfortable while looking chic. Here are a couple of looks that I have been and will continue to rock all season long.
